Get in Losers, We’re Doing the Matriarchy Now…
Connection & Chaos
By Celine Beltgens
You’ve felt it.
We all feel it. There’s a global shift away from a male centered world. Women are waking up and realizing that if women were supposed to be less than men it wouldn’t take this much work to keep us down.
When given access to anything they can dream of, the men in power have chosen violence, and horrors.
It’s time to change that path. It’s time to start thinking about community and where do we go now?
We will not go back. We can’t.
Our bodies are taken from us. Our children are taken from us, and to benefit who?
The few in power, that hoard resources like dragons sitting on piles of gold.. and we are tired.
We are tired collectively at doing everything within our power to survive, to get ahead, to have our needs met. Yet never getting quite far enough.
Why are we not supporting each other as a community? Why are we not building resources together? Why are we not building co-ops and buying clubs to create our own discounts?
It’s time. It’s really time.
The old systems were not made for us, so it’s time to build our own. It’s our path forward my friends.
So as Bob Dylan said, “the times, they are a changin”
“Come gather 'round, people, wherever you roam
And admit that the waters around you have grown
And accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth saving
And you better start swimmin' or you'll sink like a stone
For the times, they are a-changin'“
3 very ripe bananas, (medium/large), about 1 1/2 cups mashed
1/2 cup Greek yoghurt
½ cup unsalted butter, (8 Tbsp) at room temperature (or oil)
2 large eggs, lightly beaten (or 2 TBS soy flour in 6 tbs water/any egg replacer you’d like)
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup chocolate chunks or walnuts/pecans
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a bread loaf pan (9.25 long x 5.25 wide x 2.75 deep). Lightly roast nuts on a skillet, continuously stirring so they won’t burn. Coarsely chop and cool to room temperature.
In a mixing bowl, cream together 8 Tbsp softened butter and 3/4cup sugar (or honey if using honey).
Mash bananas with a fork until the consistency of chunky applesauce and add them to the batter along with 2 eggs, mixing until blended
In a separate bowl, whisk together: 1 1/2 cups of flour, 1 tsp of baking soda and 1/2 tsp of salt then add to batter.
Add 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract and mix in chopped walnuts or chips. Pour into prepared loaf pan. Bake at 350˚F for 55-60 min or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let banana bread rest for 10 min before transferring to a wire rack to cool.
